Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (9-2-0-2, 20 points) defeated the Manitoba Moose (8-8-2-0, 18 points) 4-0 Friday night in front of 5,589 fans at Cedar Park Center. Texas goalie Matt Climie stopped 24 Manitoba shots for his second career AHL shutout and the victory. Stars Defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy, forwards Aaron Gagnon, Greg Rallo and Perttu Lindgren each scored in the win. Texas winger Scott McCulloch added two assists as Texas won its fourth in a row. Texas is now unbeaten in regulation in the last six games (5-0-0-1) and they have only lost once in regulation in their last 12 games. Texas will host the Moose on Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 pm.
Texas claimed a 1-0 first-period lead with Ivan Vishnevskiy's third goal of the season at the 12:00 mark. The Stars defenseman carried the puck into the Manitoba zone, skating around the defense and then shooting the puck past the Moose goalie Rejean Beauchemin for the 1-0 Texas lead.
In the second period, Texas scored two unanswered goals just 1:19 apart. Stars forward Scott McCulloch found Perttu Lindgren alone in front of the Manitoba Moose net for the 2-0 Texas lead. Lindgren's fourth goal of the season was also set up by Dan Jancevski at 6:21. Stars center Aaron Gagnon netted a goal just 1:19 later, giving Texas a 3-0 lead. The power-play goal was set up by Francis Wathier and Ivan Vishnevskiy at 7:40.
Forward Greg Rallo netted his team-leading sixth goal of the year fifty seconds into the third period for the 4-0 Texas lead. Texas defenseman Brad Lukowich was credited with the assist on the final goal of the night.
The Texas Stars will host the Manitoba Moose again on Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 pm. The Stars will salute the armed forces with Military Appreciation Night. The first 2,000 fans receive a Texas Stars draw-string bag. The Cedar Park Center will provide $1.00 hot dogs. Texas will travel to Peoria to take on the Rivermen on Wednesday, November 11th, and then to Rockford to play the Ice Hogs on Friday, November 13th. The Stars will return to Cedar Park Center on Saturday, November 14th to host the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 pm.
