QUEBEC CITY - The Saint John Sea Dogs made it three road wins in three nights, turning in a solid effort in a 4-2 win over the Quebec Remparts Sunday.

Stanislav Galiev and Zack Phillips had a goal and an assist each, while Michael Kirkpatrick and Alexandre Beauregard added singles for the Sea Dogs. Jacob DeSerres made 21 saves for the win.

Axel Rioux and Ryan Bourque scored in a losing cause, while Louis Domingue allowed four goals on 34 shots.

The Sea Dogs, who won both meetings with the Remparts, remain first overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League at 38-5-1-2, while the Remparts fall to 34-10-1-2.

The Dogs opened the scoring just 55 seconds in, as Galiev continued his hot streak with his 23rd goal of the year and sixth in five games. Jonathan Huberdeau and Phillips got the assists.

Alex Wall set up Axel Rioux in the slot for the equalizer at 6:32. The Remparts had a handful of chances to take the lead in the first, including a 5-on-3 power play for nearly a minute, but the Sea Dogs dodged the bullet. Just after the penalty kill, DeSerres stopped Alexandre Grenier from jamming one in, a play that had to be confirmed by video review. DeSerres came up with two more big stops on Joel Champagne and Bourque later in the first.

Kirkpatrick put the Sea Dogs ahead 2-1 at the 15:58 mark. The 20-year-old veteran deposited a backhander after a nice bit of work by Scott Oke, who drew one assist, while Mike Thomas picked up the other.

The Remparts scored a quick goal of their own to make it 2-2, with Bourque beating DeSerres on a breakaway 50 seconds into the second. But with just seven seconds remaining in the middle frame, Phillips scored his team-leading 28th of the year to send Saint John into intermission with a 3-2 lead. His power play goal on a sharp-angle shot proved to be game-winner, with assists from Galiev and Nathan Beaulieu.

Despite being at the end of a tough road trip, the Dogs saved their best for last, outshooting Quebec 15-5 in the third period as Beauregard added the insurance marker at 12:12 of the final frame. Danick Gauthier and Ryan Tesink picked up the assists.

The Remparts pulled their goalie with more than a minute to go in hopes of an eleventh-hour comeback, but the Sea Dogs held on until the final buzzer.

The Sea Dogs return home for a brief rest but will play their fourth straight road game Thursday when they visit the Moncton Wildcats, a 7 p.m. start. Sea Dogs play-by-play voice Tim Roszell will have the call on News 88.9 FM as the Rivalry Cup continues.
