Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs dropped a 3-2 decision to the Manitoba Moose in Game 4 of their playoff series on Tuesday night at Copps Coliseum. Hamilton now leads the North Division Final series 2-1.
Danny Groulx got the 'Dogs on the board at 6:38 of the first period when his wrist shot from the point found its way past a screened Moose goaltender Drew MacIntyre. The goal was Groulx's second of the playoffs and was assisted by Kyle Chipchura and Ajay Baines.
Manitoba evened the score 1-1 at 11:18 of the opening stanza on the power play when Brad Moran notched his fourth goal of the playoffs. Yannick Tremblay's shot was blocked by Duncan Milroy but bounced right to Moran who slapped home a shot from the top of the left circle.
The Bulldogs reclaimed the lead at 16:33 of the first frame courtesy of Corey Locke's team-leading sixth goal of the playoffs. Matt D'Agostini fed Corey Locke down low and Locke banked a shot off of MacIntyre and into the back of the net. Mathieu Biron also drew an assist on the 2-1 goal.
At the start of the second period, Wade Flaherty replaced Manitoba's starting goaltender Drew MacIntyre between the pipes.
The Moose scored two early second-period goals to take a 3-2 lead. At the 3:18 mark, Mason Raymond's initial shot was stopped by 'Dogs netminder Carey Price before Mike Keane banged in the rebound to tie the game 1-1. Then on the powerplay at 3:59, Tremblay's shot from the point went through a crowd of players in front of the net and eluded Price to give the Moose a one-goal lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
Bulldogs netminder Carey Price made 25 saves on 28 shots and suffered the loss, while Moose backstop, Wade Flaherty stopped all 19 shots in a winning effort.
