Bulldogs add five players from ECHL

HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today that the club has recalled forwards Mathieu Aubin, Jimmy Bonneau, Greg Stewart, defenceman Jon Gleed and goaltender Cedrick Desjardins from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. Aubin, Bonneau, Gleed and Desjardins will report to the club today while Stewart will join the Bulldogs tomorrow.

Aubin, a 20-year-old native of Sorel, Quebec, appeared in 17 games with the Bulldogs in the 2006-07 regular season, collecting five points (2-3-5) and four penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 204-pound rookie centreman scored his first-career AHL goal on November 3rd, 2006, when Hamilton defeated the Syracuse Crunch 5-3.

Bonneau, a 22-year-old native of Baie-Comeau, Quebec, was scoreless with 59 penalty minutes in nine games with Hamilton in the 2006-07 regular season. The 6-foot-3, 224-pound winger registered 17 penalty minutes in his first-career AHL game on February 18th against the Hershey Bears. Bonneau then recorded a Bulldogs' team-high the next night with 20 penalty minutes on February 19th against the Syracuse Crunch.

Gleed, a 23-year-old native of Milton, Ontario, registered one assist, a plus-3 rating and four penalty minutes in eight games with the Bulldogs in the 2006-07 regular season. The 6-foot-2, 212-pound blueliner recorded his first and only AHL point, an assist, in his first game on October 25th, 2006, in Hamilton's 5-3 win over the Toronto Marlies.

Desjardins, a 21-year-old native of Edmunston, New Brunswick, posted a record of 0-2-0 with a 2.96 goals against average and a .879 save percentage in three games with Hamilton during the 2006-07 regular season. The 6-foot, 183-pound netminder played in his first-career AHL game on February 19th against the Syracuse Crunch, making 11 saves on 12 shots in relief of starting goaltender Yann Danis who was injured in the second period.

Stewart, a 20-year-old native of Kitchener, Ontario, has yet to play a regular season game in the AHL. The 6-foot-2, 199-pound winger played 62 games with Cincinnati in the ECHL this season, posting 23 points (8-15-23) and 126 penalty minutes.

Aubin, Bonneau, Stewart, Gleed, and Desjardins are not on the Bulldogs' Clear Day roster but are all on Hamilton's list of players in residence. A player in residence can be used in the Calder Cup playoffs if three members of a team's Clear Day roster are injured, recalled or suspended.

The Hamilton Bulldogs will continue their quest for the Calder Cup tonight at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Manitoba Moose in Game 3 of the North Division Final at Copps Coliseum.
