
'Dogs Beat Chicago in Rain-Shortened Opener

LINCOLN, Nebraska - Josh Altmann hit his fourth homer in five games, and the Lincoln Saltdogs won a rain-shortened game against the Chicago Dogs, 4-1, after six innings at Haymarket Park on Tuesday night.
Altmann's homer in the 4th inning gave the 'Dogs (13-8) the lead for good, and after rain fell heavily in the top of the 7th inning, the game was called.
Kyle Kinman allowed just one run over six innings to earn Lincoln's first complete game of 2022, and the Saltdogs snapped the Dogs (15-7) eight-game winning streak.
Justin Byrd went 2-for-3 and gave the 'Dogs a lead with his two-out RBI single in the 1st inning, and Danny Mars tied the game with an RBI single in the 3rd inning.
Altmann's homer came to lead off the 4th inning before rookie Alex Steinbach picked up his first professional RBI with a sacrifice fly. Skyler Weber's two-out RBI single in the 4th gave the 'Dogs a 4-1 lead.
Lincoln picked up an eighth win in nine home games to start the year, and the 'Dogs are now 3-1 against Chicago in the season set.
The series continues on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 11:35 on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
