'Dogs Acquire D-Man Jamie VanderVeeken from Rapid City

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has acquired defenseman Jamie VanderVeeken from the Rapid City Rush in exchange for the rights to forward Konrad Reeder. The deal also completes the future considerations portion of the teams' previous Luke Erickson trade.

VanderVeeken, 24, skated as a member of the Rapid City Rush since the team's inaugural season in 2008-09, amassing 21 goals, 44 assists and 187 penalty minutes (PIM) in 144 regular season contests.

The 6-foot-2, 208-pound d-man collected six points (2g/4a) and 24 PIM and was plus-6 in 17 games with Rapid City this season prior to being acquired by Arizona.

VanderVeeken helped the Rush to its 2010 Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Championship last year, collecting 37 points (12g/25a) and 92 PIM in 63 regular season contests and three assists and 16 PIM in 13 postseason appearances en route to the title.

A native of Wallaceburg, Ontario, VanderVeeken spent his rookie season in 2007-08 with the IHL's Kalamazoo Wings, recording 14 goals, 19 assists and 82 PIM in 72 games.

Prior to turning pro, the blue liner played four seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), suiting up for Guelph Storm, Toronto St. Michael's Majors, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and Ottawa 67's.

Reeder, 29, skated with Arizona during the 2009-10 season registering 55 points (25g/30a), 58 PIM and a minus-5 rating in 64 regular season appearances.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pound forward opened the 2010-11 season in Germany, skating with pro club Rosenheim of Germany's second tier league the 2nd Eishockey-Bundesliga (2.GBun), tallying five goals, seven assists and 10 PIM in 24 contests.
