Chin-lung Hu had four hits to lead the Vero Beach Dodgers to a 9-3 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays Friday night at Knology Park. The Dodgers used a 4-run fourth inning to get on top and Julio Pimentel turned in five innings of one-run baseball to improve his record to 4-2. The series continues Saturday night at 7:00 PM. Brian Pilkington searches for his first win.
The big fourth inning started with a leadoff single from Anthony Raglani. Andy LaRoche drew a walk and Matt Kemp singled to load the bases. Jays starter Mike MacDonald, who took the loss to fall to 5-2, tossed a wild pitch to score Raglani. Cory Dunlap followed with a single to plate Kemp and make it 2-0. After a groundout, Hu smacked his first hit to center and brought home two more.
Dunedin scored one run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. The Dodgers answered each time. In the sixth, Hu scored on a double by Justin Ruggiano and Edwin Belloring came home an error. Dunlap scored in the seventh on passed ball and a Bellorin double scored Hu. Xavier Paul knocked in Dunlap in the ninth to finish the 9-3 victory. Justin Simmons pitched a perfect ninth to seal it.
