Vero Beach Devil Rays News Release

Dear friends and supporters of the Dodgers, There have been some recent changes in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization that affect our operations in Vero Beach. As our loyal followers, the Dodgers want to take this opportunity to separate fact from fiction and explain what it all means for Vero Beach.

The main components of our operations in Vero include Spring Training and the Class A minor league team, the Vero Beach Dodgers. Despite rumors that the Dodgers are relocating to Arizona for Spring Training, I assure you this is not the case for 2007. The schedule for Spring Training 2007 will be out shortly to further quell this speculation.

The Class A team, on the other hand, is moving to the California League. With the Minor League Department based in Los Angeles, this move was motivated by the desire to be closer to the center of operations. As for the community of Vero Beach, you will not be without minor league baseball next summer. The Dodgers have entered into an agreement with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to house and operate their Class A team. The uniforms will not say "Dodgers," but that will be the only noticeable difference. The franchise is still owned and operated by the Dodgers. Our new mascot, Squeeze, will get a new jersey, but will be back for 2007!

Advertisers can still expect the same fantastic value for their dollars. Fans can expect the same family friendly atmosphere throughout the summer.

On a more personal note, I have resigned my position as the General Manager and will be transitioning out of Vero during the month of October. Although my replacement has yet to be named, I am sure that the new GM will continue to enhance the great traditions of baseball in Vero Beach. Of course, there will still be plenty of familiar faces in the stadium. Katie (1) and Shawn are returning in their respect roles, you can find Ed in the info booth, and although Betty is retired, she is never far from Holman.

It has been a pleasure working with you as part of the Dodger family. Thank you for your continued devotion to the Dodgers and to baseball in Vero Beach.

Sincerely,

Emily Christy

General Manager, Vero Beach Dodgers
