JUPITER, FL- The Vero Beach Dodgers picked up their first road victory of the year with a 5-1 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium. The Dodgers came into the contest with a 0-9 road record.
Palm Beach (11-6) managed only four singles on the night against three Dodgers pitchers. Sean Danielson compiled two hits and stole his eight base of the season.
The Dodgers (5-12) scored two of their five runs against Cardinals starter Blake Hawksworth, ending his scoreless innings streak at fourteen. Hawksworth (2-1) threw four innings, allowing six hits and striking out five.
Dodgers third baseman Travis Denker went 2-for-4 on the night, knocking in two runs and moving his season RBI total to six
Zach Hammes (1-0) picked up the win, following starter Scott Elbert, throwing four shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out three.
The Cardinals and Dodgers finish the three game series tomorrow night, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 pm.
