Dodgers Roll Over Omaha, 7-1

Papillion, Neb. - The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored seven runs between the second and fourth innings, and starting pitcher Manny Bañuelos turned in six scoreless innings to lead the Dodgers to a 7-1 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers Thursday night at Werner Park.

The Dodgers (42-26) got some early breathing room with a four-run rally in the second inning. Edwin RÃ-os led off the frame with a solo home run to right-center field for his fourth homer of the season.

Later in the inning, the Dodgers loaded the bases with one out, and Andrew Toles provided a RBI groundout to make it 2-0. Breyvic Valera then doubled the lead with a two-run single, putting the Dodgers ahead by four.

OKC had none on with two outs in the third inning before the bottom of the order rallied for a run. Jake Peter and Rocky Gale singled, and both advanced into scoring position after a wild pitch. Angelo Mora brought both runners home with a single to make it 6-0.

The lower third of the lineup had a strong night, with Peter, Gale and Mora combining to go 5-for-9 with five runs. Gale paced the Dodgers with three hits, and he is now 11-for-24 during his current six-game hitting streak.

Henry Ramos joined the two-out scoring trend with a RBI single in the fifth.

It was more than enough run support for Bañuelos (8-3), who pitched six scoreless innings for a second consecutive start. The lefty gave up five hits, with two walks and nine strikeouts, becoming the second pitcher in the PCL with at least eight wins this season.

The Storm Chasers (33-38) threatened a couple of times against Bañuelos, but he held Omaha 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Down, 7-0, in the fifth inning, Omaha had runners at second and third base with one out and then loaded the bases with two outs. Bañuelos escaped the jam by getting rehabbing Kansas City Royals first baseman Lucas Duda to ground out.

J.T. Chargois followed Bañuelos with two scoreless innings to hold Omaha scoreless heading into the ninth inning. For the second time in the Dodgers' last six games, a shutout bid ended with two outs in the ninth inning. After Ariel Hernandez retired the first two batters of the ninth inning, Donnie Dewees kept the game alive with an infield single, and Ramon Torres followed with a RBI double.

Hernandez then ended the game by striking out Jorge Bonifacio for the team's 12th strikeout of the night.

Omaha starting pitcher Josh Staumont (1-2) labored over three innings and allowed six runs and six hits in the loss. He walked four and struck out four while throwing 86 pitches.
