El Paso Chihuahuas News Release
The El Paso Chihuahuas started their four-game road trip with a convincing 10-1 win over the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field Thursday. Chihuahuas pitching held Sacramento to four hits and retired the final 13 batters of the game.
San Diego Padres catcher Austin Hedges went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. The homer was against San Francisco Giants pitcher Jeff Samardzija, who was also on an MLB rehab assignment. Hedges has three home runs in his last five games for El Paso.
Allen Craig started the game 4-for-4 with four singles before flying out in his final at-bat with a chance to tie the Chihuahuas' record for hits in a game. Craig is batting .415 in 16 June games. Dillon Overton pitched four shutout innings to start the game and hasn't allowed any runs in 11 innings against Sacramento this season. Sacramento used seven pitchers Thursday, three of which lasted less than one inning.
