Dodgers Rally to Defeat Zephyrs

OKLAHOMA CITY - Rob Segedin smacked a seventh inning two run double to snap a tie game and give the Dodgers a 5-3 advantage and Oklahoma City held on to defeat the New Orleans Zephyrs 5-3.

The Dodgers struck first with a first inning two run home run from Will Venable to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

New Orleans answered scoring runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take the lead 3-2. Carlos Corporan snapped out of a hitting slump with three hits and scored two runs. Dee Gordon on a rehab assignment from the Miami Marlins added two hits including a triple and Austin Nola added two hits and two RBI.

Oklahoma City tied the game in the sixth inning with a two out base hit from Brandon Hicks to tie the game. The Dodgers scored two runs in the seventh inning off of reliever Cody Ege to pick up the win.

Dodger reliever Matt West pitched an inning and a third to earn the win and Jacob Rhame pitched the ninth inning for his seventh save of the year.

The Z's drop their fifth consecutive game to fall to 46-53 for the season.

GAME NOTES

The Zephyrs have had just two quality starts from their starting pitchers since the All-Star Break, a stretch of eleven games.

Dee Gordon has a hit in four consecutive games.

The Miami Marlins promoted pitcher Jarred Cosart from the Zephyrs. Cosart was 3-4 with a 4.09 ERA in ten starts for the Zephyrs.

Sunday was the Zephyrs 100th game of the season. New Orleans has 43 games remaining with 27 at home.

ON DECK

The Zephyrs continue a brief four game road trip in OKC on Monday at 7:05PM. The Z's will send RHP Chris Narveson (3-3, 2.97 ERA) to the hill to face RHP Jose DeLeon (3-0, 2.49)

NEXT HOME GAME

The Zephyrs open an eight game home-stand Tuesday, July 26th against the Class AAA Chicago Cubs the Iowa Cubs.
