It's been a while, hasn't it?

When was the last time you popped on a headband, lined up on the grass and got ready for a little dodgeball? The two-time defending MLS Cup Champion LA Galaxy are here for you, always.

Here's the deal. After the LA Galaxy take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC at StubHub Center on Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. PT Presented by First Five California live on TWC Sports and TWC Deportes the main field at StubHub Center will turn into a massive dodgeball game. For Galaxy supporters that have already purchased tickets, you can get in on the action for a $5 donation to Kicks for Kids (cheap and for a good cause). If you are looking for a little dodgeball after watching the reigning MLS Cup Champs take on a Western Conference foe hit up http://dodgeball4ever.com/events/dodgeballin-w-the-la-galaxy/.

Dodgeball has come a long way since we were navigating the middle school gym during recess. Back in those days we'd do anything to avoid getting knocked out by Mike Albert, the hulking 8th Grade dodgeball king, who had hairy arms and too tight shorts.

Since then, dodgeball has had a renaissance (using this term loosely). Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller made Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, a movie about, you know, dodgeball. A 24-team professional league was founded (the National Dodgeball League, duh.). Someone even named a social networking software after the tour-de-force sport (pour one out for Dodgeball which was discontinued in 2009 by Google).
