Dodgeball Tournament Returns, Vaka Added to Roster

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning will host their second annual Dodgeball Tournament on the field at Stockton Arena on Saturday, July 14th. This team format event is set to take place on the field prior to the Stockton Lightning playing host to the Boise Burn in arenafootball2 regular season play at 7:00 p.m.

The tournament is an excellent opportunity for the community to get involved with the Lightning in a fun and competitive atmosphere. All teams are welcome (ages 15 & up). There is a minimum of 6 players per team with a maximum of 10 players per roster. Entry to this tournament is $200 per team. Registration includes 10 Lower End Zone tickets to the game, 10 t-shirts, drinks, snacks and prizes. Teams will be registered on a first come first serve basis due to high demand.

The tournament will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

VAKA CLAIMED FROM BAKERSFIELD

The Lightning announced international OL/DL Jason Vaka has been claimed off re-assignment from the af2 League Office via the Bakersfield Blitz.

Vaka, 34, has appeared in one game this season with the Blitz, collecting 1.5 tackles in a 45-42 win over the Lightning on April 21. Previously, the New Zealand product made his arenafootball2 debut with the Central Valley Coyotes in 2005, appearing in five games while registering five tackles and one fumble recovery.

In 2006, the Lightning ranked third in af2 attendance with an average of 7,445 fans per home game.
