Louisville Fire News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Louisville Fire Arena Football team (5-4) take on the Fort Wayne Fusion (3-7) this Saturday, June 16th at 7:00pm in Freedom Hall as they attempt to sweep the season series against the division rival. The Fire defeated the Fusion 48-42 in what some consider a controversial last second score by Fire WR Tony Stallings.

During the last meeting, Fusion QB Cody Hodges completed 12 of 25 attempts scoring two touchdowns as he kept pace with the teeter totter scoring of both teams. Fire QB Joel Steele had a stellar night completing 30 of 43 attempts with three touchdowns and one interception. The Fusion kept pace throughout the game until penalties in the fourth quarter set the Fire up for victory.

Fusion and Fire fans alike were confused about the final touchdown of the game scored by WR Stallings. As the Fire broke huddle the clock began to tick instead of starting at the snap of the ball. This proved to be a moot point as WR Stallings broke through the line and scored on the final second of the game. The final touchdown was then contested by Fusion fans only to be denied the opportunity to take the win in overtime.

This week's game should be a tense contest as the Fusion look to avenge their earlier loss and the Fire continue to build momentum for a playoff run. For ticket and promotion information please call 502-368-0009.
