Fond du Lac Dock Spiders News Release

FOND DU LAC, WI - The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (3-1) won in walk off fashion over the Rockford Rivets (2-2) Friday night in front of an announced attendance of 829.

With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 9th Alex Henwood (Nebraska) stood at the plate with a full count. When asked on what was going through his head Henwood added, "I was pretty relaxed honestly. I knew we had the bases loaded and one out so I knew the pitcher was going to give me something to hit or nothing to hit. I was expecting a fastball. I didn't know where it was going but I knew a fastball was coming."

Well for Henwood he was given nothing to hit and was walked to first. Pat Sisk (Furman) would be registered with the game winning run.

Rockford got on the board first scoring on a sacrifice fly to left field to take a 1-0 advantage in the 2nd.

In the bottom of the 4th with Sisk up to bat, the Rivets pitcher threw a wild pitch which allowed Chris Ayers (Indiana State) to reach home and even the score at 1-1. Ayers made his debut for the Dock Spiders tonight and finished the night going 0-1 with 3 walks.

A little bit of a pitchers duel until the end of the game, Jacob Voss (Creighton) entered the game in the 7th striking out 4 out of the 7 batters he faced in 1.2 innings. The Linn, MO native has now pitched 4.3 innings producing a team leading 12 strikeouts.

When asked about winning back to back games in front of the home crowd here at Herr-Baker Field Sisk said, "To win in front of the fans here, in front of the Fondy Faithful, it's huge. The Spiders are rolling."

The Dock Spiders will be back at home tomorrow night when they face off against the Madison Mallards on home turf at 6:35 PM.
