Dmitry Kuzmin Selected in the Third Round (#82 Overall) of the NHL Draft by the Winnipeg Jets

Flint, Mich. -ÃÂ Firebirds commit Dmitry Kuzmin has not yet suited up for the Firebirds, but the beginning of his NHL career is here. The Winnipeg Jets selected the left-handed defenseman out of Kholstovo, Belarus with their 3rd round pick (#82 overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft Saturday.
The 18-year-oldÃÂ Kuzmin spent last season playing pro hockey in his native country of Belarus. As a 17-year-old, he produced 12 Pts (3 G, 9 A) in 46 GP for Dinamo-Molodechno. He also added 5 Pts (1 G, 4A) in 5 GP for Team Belarus at the 2021 U18 World Junior Championships.
Kuzmin becomes the second FirebirdÃÂ selected in the NHL Draft this year, a day after Brennan Othmann became theÃÂ second 1st round pick in team history.ÃÂ This is also the third-straight year a Belarusian on the Firebirds was selected in the NHL Draft (Vladislav Kolyachonok, 2019 & Evgeniy Oksentyuk, 2020).
The NHL Draft continues on NHL Network in the United States and Sportsnet in Canada. Braeden Kressler is still expected to be drafted today. If he is, this would be the first time in team history the Firebirds had three players selected in a single NHL Draft.
