Rockford IceHogs News Release

St. Charles, Mo.- The Rockford IceHogs got their first look at the revamped Missouri River Otters Wednesday night at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri and it wasn't an NHLer who stole the show. Winger Frank Littlejohn, acquired last week from Adirondack, scored three goals and assisted on another in the second period to help the Otters to a 6-3 win over the Hogs.

The IceHogs jumped out to the 1-0 lead when center Olivier Proulx picked a pass off at the Missouri blue-line and set up winger Chris Gobert for his 15 goal of the season at 4:23. Missouri would get the goal back at 10:05 of the period when winger Jim Montgomery buried a pass on the doorstep from Ryan Johnson. Rockford grabbed the lead however before the intermission when winger J.F. Dufour found himself wide open in front of the Missouri net and Alex Kim set him up at 19:17.

But things turned for the worse for the IceHogs in the second period, as they gave up a season high five goals. Littlejohn tallied his first of three goals in the frame at 1:43. Then on the power play defenseman Mike Dombkiewicz fired home a marker to give the Otters their first lead of the game.

Missouri found themselves on another power play and this time winger Mark Odut was set-up by Montgomery at 5:45. Littlejohn later netted two more tallies to push the lead to 6-2. His first came at 14:17 of the second before he completed the hat trick at 14:39 with a breakaway marker.

The Hogs mustered the only third period goal when J.C. Ruid shot one over the shoulder of Jason Tapp at 3:46. Rockford was outshot 33-29 and there were only five penalties called in the game.
