CHARLESTON, WV - The Charleston Dirty Birds announce Hoover High School graduate and Marshall University Baseball Alumni, outfielder Corey Bird, will be joining the 2022 season roster after spending the last five seasons in the Miami Marlins organization.

Bird was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 7th round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft during his junior year at Marshall University reaching his peak level in 2021 with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (AAA, Miami Marlins).

"I grew up here and have a lot of memories on this field so it's an honor to be back representing the city of Charleston and the state of West Virginia. I won a high school state championship here, lost one too. Played college games here and played against the Power back in 2017 on this field. It's just a true honor to be here wearing a Dirty Birds uniform this time" said Bird when asked what it means to be playing pro-ball in his home city again.

The Charleston Dirty Birds face off with the visiting High Point Rockers tonight at Appalachian Power Park where Corey Bird's name will be on the starting lineup, batting eighth and playing centerfield. Gates open at 5:30 with a Home Replica Jersey giveaway to the first 1,000 fans in the gate presented by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. First Pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
