Dillas win 7-3 over Thunder

AMARILLO, TX - Amarillo Dillas starter Ralph Roberts allowed only one run and struck out seven batters, helping the Dillas push past the Coastal Bend Thunder 7-3 on Tuesday night in front of 2,078 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Roberts (6-3) scattered six hits in six innings, walking five in the effort. Former Dilla and Thunder starter Jorge Lugo (0-2) got the loss, scattering six hits and five runs in seven innings of work. Dillas outfielder Stephen Douglas went 2-3 with two runs with his eighth homer of the season.
The Dillas got on the board first in the second inning as Douglas singled, went to second on a Sam Palace walk, stole third and scored on an error. Kevin Butler followed with an RBI single to score Palace for a 2-0 lead.
Coastal Bend scored their first run in the second as Gianican Rosa singled, went to second on a Juan Cabrera single, took third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Dustin Smith RBI groundout for a one-run game. Amarillo got their lead back to two in the fourth as Douglas hit a one-out solo homerun for a 3-1 Dillas advantage.
In the fifth, Amarillo added two more as Butler scored on an error while Andrew Wong hit an RBI single for a 5-1 score.
The Thunder would score again in the seventh as Lamar Guy hit a one-out double and scored on a Patty Matera RBI single, while they added another in the eighth on a Mike Lewis RBI groundout for a 5-3 Dillas lead.
The Dillas added two insurance runs in the ninth, while Ramon Geronimo struck out two of the three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the 7-3 victory.
With the win, the Dillas improve to 47-33 while the Thunder fall to 28-52. Thursday, Amarillo will take on San Angelo for the final game of a four-game set at 7:05pm with the Aqua One Pre-Game Show set to begin at 6:50pm on AudioSportsOnline via www.myamarillodillas.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
