San Angelo Colts News Release


Edinburg third-baseman Wilson Batista was a menace to San Angelo pitching as hehomered three times and drove in four runs, while starter Mark DiBernardo pitched seven innings of one-run ball in the Roadrunners'11-4 win over the San Angelo Colts on Tuesday night at Foster Field.

The win gives Edinburg two wins in the first three games of the four-game set.

For the second night in a row the Roadrunners scored in the first inning as an RBI double by designated hitter Felix Molina gave Edinburg a 1-0 lead.

They would add another run in the fourth on a solo-homerun by Batista (5) to give the Roadrunners a two-run lead.

Edinburg would blow things open in the sixth by putting four runs on the board, only one of which was earned.

The first run scored on an RBI groundout by right-fielder Nelson Teilon.

After a throwing error by Colts shortstop Landon Camp scored the second run of the inning, Batista followed with another homerun (6), this one a two-run shot, to make the score 6-0.

They would add another run in the sixth on an RBI double by second-baseman Wilmer Pino before San Angelo got on the board in the bottom-half on a bases-loaded RBI single by Camp to cut Edinburg's lead to 7-1.

The Roadrunners would get the run right back in the seventh on an RBI single by third-baseman Carlos Hereaud, which was followed by a solo-homer in the eighth by Pino to make it 9-1 Edinburg.

The Roadrunners would then add insult to injury in the ninth by blasting back-to-back solo homeruns.

The front end was the third of the game for Batista (7) while the other round-tripper came from Hereaud (10) to up Edinburg's lead to 11-1.

San Angelo scored three runs in the ninth on an RBI triple from second-baseman Mark Ramos, and a two-run homerun from designated hitter Jason Landreth (8) to make the final count 11-4.

In addition to Batista's work, Pino continued to demolish Colts pitching by going 4-5 with a homer, two singles, a double, and three runs scored.

For the series, Pino is 12-14 with a homer, double, nine singles, six runs scored and seven stolen bases.

At one point

he had a base-hit in 12-straight at-bats in the first three games of the series.

Ramos led the way for San Angelo as he went 2-5 with two triples, a run scored and an RBI. Leftfielder Alex Fernandez chipped in by going 3-5 with a double and two singles, while Landreth went 1-4 with his two-run homer and two runs scored.

DiBernardo (7-2) got the win for Edinburg as we went seven innings while allowing one run on seven hits, while striking out eight.

Taking the loss for San Angelo was Brett Bukvich (0-2) who allowed six runs, only three earned, on six hits.

He also walked three and struck out two.

The Colts will go for the split of their four-game series with the Roadrunners on Wednesday with first-pitch scheduled for 7:05.

Ezequiel Astacio (6-6, 5.38 ERA) will go for the Colts against Aaron Guerra (5-1, 4.50 ERA) of the Roadrunners.

Wednesday is also Sure-Win Wednesday presented by Sherwin Williams.

If the Colts don't win, all fans in attendance will receive free admission to the next Wednesday home game on August 25 against Coastal Bend.
