
Dillas Take Game Two of Doubleheader From WhiteWings

HARLINGEN - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings fell to the Amarillo Dillas 7-1 in seven innings in game two of a doubleheader Saturday at Harlingen Field.
The Dillas (37-26) struck against Jose Nieto (0-2) right away. Adam de la Garza drew a lead off walk, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a two-out single by Julio Martinez to make it 1-0.
Starting on two days rest, Nieto allowed three hits and three walks while striking out one in four innings.
Taylor Allen held the WhiteWings (28-33) to just a leadoff infield-single by Javis Diaz in the first inning. He walked three and hit one batter in four innings of work in his first start back from a staph infection.
The Dillas added three unearned run against Tate Kelly in the sixth and seventh innings.
The WhiteWings got their run in the bottom of the sixth when Welington Dotel led off with a single against Frank Corolla IV (1-4). One out later, Kevin Griffin hit a single and Martinez misplayed the ball, allowing Dotel to score to make it 5-1.
The WhiteWings and Dillas play game four of this five-game series Sunday at 7:05 p.m. at Harlingen Field. Gates open at 6:05. Right-hander Luis Montano (5-4) is expected to face right-hander Ralph Roberts (4-3).
