Broncos score 11 runs on 14 hits, lead series two games to none over Coastal Bend

The Broncos sent LHP Brian Buchanan (6-4) to the mound in game two of the series against the Thunder. Making the start for Coastal Bend was LHP Frank James (2-6).

The Broncos came out of the gate swinging. Plating four runs in the bottom of the first. The first four batters came home to score for the Broncos on three singles and a two run homer by Salvador Paniagua to make the score 4-0.

The Thunder stranded runners on the base paths in all five innings that Brian Buchanan pitched in the ball game.

In the bottom of the second the Broncos added to their lead. Back to back RBI doubles by Carlos Arroyo and Jolen Pacheco brought home two more Broncos runs and extended their lead to 6-0.

In the bottom of the fourth the Broncos continued the offense out pouring, D.J Dixon, after singling, scored on an error by first baseman Brian Nichols and the Broncos led 7-0. Jolen Pacheco then hit his first home run of the year, a three run shot that made the Broncos lead 10-0.

In the bottom of the fourth D.J Dixon hit an RBI double that scored Nick Mahin, who walked to give the Broncos the 11-0 lead.

Brian Nichols hit his 16th home run of the season, a solo bomb that put the Thunder on the board in the top of the fifth.

Buchanan ran into some trouble in the top of the sixth. He allowed four straight singles to make the score 11-2 Broncos. RHP Eric Eden (1-2) came into the game and allowed another run scoring single and the score was 11-3. Eden tightened down after that, picked up a strikeout and a double play ball to end the inning.

Neither team scored again in the contest and the Broncos took home the 11-3 victory and now have a two games to none series lead over the Thunder.
