San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, TX - Third-baseman Wilson Batista went 2-3 with a three-run homer, sac-fly, double and four RBI as the Roadrunners took game three of a four-game series from the Colts 9-3 at Foster Field on Sunday night.

San Angelo scored first in the second-inning as Saturday's hero, third-baseman Landon Camp, hit a solo homerun, his 13th of the year and third in as many nights, to give the Colts a 1-0 lead.

But Edinburg would take the lead for good in the third by scoring four runs. Catcher Alexis Hernandez started things with a two-run homer (9) to put the Roadrunners ahead 2-1. Two batters later, shortstop Felix Molina followed suit with a two-run shot of his own (4) to increase the Edinburg lead to three.

The Colts would make a game of it by plating two runs in the fifth on an RBI triple by second-baseman Mark Ramos, followed by an RBI groundout from centerfielder Ronnie Gaines to cut Edinburg's lead to 4-3.

But that would be as close as the Colts could get as the Roadrunner's scored the game's final five runs. They got one in the sixth on a sac-fly from Batista, who would then put the game away in the eighth on a three-run homerun (3) to make the score 8-3. Edinburg added one more run in the ninth on a sac-fly from Molina to make the final count 9-3. The Colts were shutout over the game's final four innings while registering only three hits.

In addition to Batista, Molina went 1-4 with a two-run homer, sac-fly, a run scored and three RBI, while Hernandez went 2-4 with a two-run dinger, single, and two runs scored to pace the Roadrunner attack. San Angelo was led by Ramos who went 2-5 with a triple, single, RBI, and run scored. Catcher Trey Carter also had a nice game by going 3-3 with three singles and a walk while reaching base all four times he batted.

Starter Eric Montoya (8-2) got the win for Edinburg by allowing only three runs on 10 hits in six innings of work. He walked none and struck out three in the process. His eight victories are a league-lead.

Starter Brian Henschel (4-6) took the loss for the Colts as he went eight innings while allowing eight runs on 10 hits. He walked none and struck out one. The Colts and Roadrunners finish their four-game series Monday with a 7:05 start. Bryan Heaston (2-1, 6.46 ERA) will go for San Angelo against Mark DiBernardo (5-4, 4.68 ERA) of Edinburg. Monday will also be Margarita Monday sponsored by MDX 106.1 FM as fans can purchase margaritas throughout the evening for only $2. The broadcast of the game begins at 6:50 with the Kemps' Pregame Show and can be heard on 1260 KKSA.
