Amarillo Dillas News Release

The Amarillo Dillas didn't have anything go their way Tuesday night as they suffered their worst home loss in the United League, falling 17-0 to the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings in front of 2,768 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

Dillas starter Taylor Allen (0-2) got the loss going four and one-third and gave up 11 hits and nine runs. Whitewings starter Reymond Cruz (2-0) went seven innings and gave up no runs off seven hits.

The Whitewings got on the board first in the third inning with five straight hits including two triples and a two-run homerun from Alberto Cruz for a 5-0 Dillas deficit.

The damage didn't stop there with Rio Grande Valley bashing back-to-back homers. The first came from Rico Santana, a three-run inside-the-park round tripper, while the other came from Cruz for a 9-0 lead for the Whitewings.

The onslaught continued from there as Rio Grande Valley added two runs in both the sixth and seventh. More runs came in the ninth to bring the final tally to 17-0.

With the loss, the Dillas fall to 2-4 on the season while the Whitewings improve to 4-2. Amarillo faces off for the third game of a four-game series against Rio Grande Valley on Wednesday at 7:00 pm with Dillas Pregame set to begin at 6:45 pm. Game time is subject to change and blackout.
