Dillas Come Back Down Three Runs Twice But Fall 12-9 in 13

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas came back to tie the game in the ninth inning down 6-3, then came back from down 9-6 in the 11th inning to tie, but finally fell to the Laredo Broncos by a score of 12-9 in 13 innings on Friday night at the Amarillo National Dilla Villa in front of 3,042 fans.

Dillas reliever Andy Noonan (1-1) got the loss as he went an out past one inning and allowed three runs in the 13th. Broncos reliever Carlos Alvarez (1-1) got the win despite giving up three runs in the 11th as he pitched a scoreless 12th. Laredo closer Edgar Soto got his first save of the season, pitching a scoreless 13th.

Amarillo would waste no time getting on the board in the first inning with two runs and another in the second to take a 3-0 lead.

After two errors and a wild pitch scored Willie James in the second, the Broncos would chip away at the three-run lead in the third. An RBI groundout by O.J. Garza and an RBI single by Mario Mendez brought the deficit to one at 3-2.

Laredo took the lead in the fifth on a Luany Sanchez 2-RBI double. The Broncos extended their lead in the seventh as Argelis Nunez singled home a run, while Andres Santos hit a solo homerun with two outs to give Laredo a 6-3 lead.

Amarillo would stage a furious comeback in the ninth. With one out, Justin Wenger reached on an error, James reached on a walk as Simon singled to score Wenger as James went to third. Andrew Wong singled to score James and an intentional walk to Figueroa loaded the bases. McClain came up and sent a high fly to right, which was caught, but scored Simon from third to tie the game 6-6.

Laredo would retake a three-run lead in the 11th with a Mendez 2-RBI triple and an RBI fielder's choice by Sanchez for a 9-6 Broncos lead.

The Dillas would once again comeback as McClain hit a bases loaded double to re-tie the game at 9-9 in the 11th. Laredo would score three more in the 13th, and though Amarillo put two on with only one out in the bottom half, the Broncos would defeat the Dillas by a score of 12-9.

With the loss, the Dillas fall to 22-20, while the Broncos improve to 15-27. Saturday, Amarillo will host Laredo for the third game of a four-game series at 7:05pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:50 pm on AudioSportsOnline.net. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
