
Dietrich Joins Biscuits

The Tampa Bay Rays announce the following roster move for the Biscuits. Infielder Derek Dietrich has been promoted to the Biscuits from A+ Port Charlotte. There is no corresponding move.
Dietrich, 23, was hitting .282 for the Stone Crabs and leading the team in doubles (21), triples (9), home runs (10) and RBI (58). His nine triples and 40 extra-base-hits are both third in the Florida State League. The middle-infielder spent most of his time at shortstop while also mixing in at second-base and playing one game in centerfield.
Dietrich was a second round selection by the Rays out of Georgia Tech in 2010. Dietrich hit .279 in 45 games with SS-A Hudson Valley in 2010 and had a .277 average with A- Bowling Green in 2011. This is his first time in AA.
The Biscuits active roster now meets the league-max of 25.
