Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs announced on Thursday that the contract of All Star outfielder Gavin Dickey has been purchased by the Atlanta Braves organization. This marks the 27th time in team history that a Saltdogs player has been acquired by a major league organization.
Dickey, who was selected as the 2010 Saltdogs Player of the Year posted a career season. Dickey hit .300 with career highs in home runs (17) and RBI (55), hitting mostly in the leadoff spot for Lincoln. Gavin also led the Saltdogs with 20 stolen bases. In addition, he took over the center field position and provided outstanding defense all season long. Dickey hit four leadoff home runs during the season, and was the North Division's starting center fielder in the 2010 American Association All-Star Game.
Dickey played one and a half seasons with the Saltdogs. He leaves Lincoln having hit a combined .308 with 18 homers, 72 RBI, and 23 stolen bases. The Braves will be his second organization; Dickey began his pro career with the Seattle Mariners organization in 2006 and reached as high as AA in 2009.
