KODAK, TENN. (MAY 12, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx (12-17) win an old fashioned pitcher's duel on Tuesday night at Smokies Park over Tennessee (14-14) 1-0. The Diamond Jaxx get a base hit in the top of the ninth inning by Jeff Dominguez, scoring Matt Mangini from third to give the Jaxx a 1-0 lead. Mumba Rivera (3-2) finished it off in the bottom half to secure the victory.

Diamond Jaxx starter, Kyle Parker delivered an outing West Tenn had not seen in 2009 by going seven innings. Even better, it was seven shutout innings. Parker struck out three and walked three in the no decision.

Casey Coleman, for Tennessee delivered six shutout innings for Tennessee striking out two and walking three. Jeremy Papelbon (0-3) lost his second consecutive outing Tuesday night, after losing the game on Monday.

The Smokies threatened in the bottom of the first inning with the bases loaded and only one out. Kyle Parker got James Adduci to ground back to him and Parker flipped the ball to catcher, Adam Moore for the second out. Marquez Smith struck out and ended the threat. The Smokies left five runners on base in the first two innings.

In the top of the ninth, Matt Mangini and Johan Limonta led the inning off with singles. Leury Bonilla bunted them over putting runners on second and third with one out. Then Jeff Dominguez singled to center scoring the eventual game winning run. Ironically it was the same duo that provided the win on Monday night with Mangini singling in Dominguez last night.

Mumba Rivera dealt two scoreless innings of relief picking up his team leading, third win of the year.

The Jaxx go for the series win today at 10:30 AM CST at Smokies Park as LHP Danny Christensen (0-1, 8.59) makes the start for the Jaxx. The Smokies counter with RHP Jay Jackson (2-3, 4.94).
