
Diablos Walk-Off in Tenth, 6-5

Matt Kent's walk off-single gave the Diablos a 6-5 tenth inning victory over the Fort Worth Cats on Thursday night from Cohen Stadium.
The Fort Worth Cats crossed the dish first in the top of the second. Chuck Carter reached on a throwing error from Evan Conley. Alan Moye then singled Carter over to third base. Steve Trout would pick up an RBI on a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Carter for the 1-0 advantage. Fort Worth would stretch the lead to 2-0 in the top of the third. Marc Mirizzi picked up a two-out double to the right center field gap and Carlos Adolfo brought him home with a double of his own for the two-run lead.
The Diablos opened up the scoring in the bottom of the third. Joel Izquierdo picked up a two-out infield single. Albenis Machado then drew a walk advancing Izquierdo to second. Kory Drew picked up his fourth RBI in two nights with a single shot through the right side, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Fort Worth used the long ball in the top of the fourth. Alan Moye hit his fourth home-run of the season, a solo-shot to center field putting the Cats ahead 3-1.
The Diablos would answer in the bottom of the fourth. Logan Wood poked an RBI single up the middle plating Olmstead as El Paso trailed only 3-2.
Fort Worth would push the lead to 4-2 in the top of the sixth. Dallas Christoson would reach on an error against second baseman Joel Izquierdo with two outs. He would eventually score on a Jordan Foster single.
El Paso exploded for a three run bottom of the seventh against starter Lee Gwaltney. Kory Drew had a two-run triple and Jorge Alvarez picked up a sacrifice fly as the Diablos took the lead 5-4.
The Cats would come right back and tie it up in the top of the eighth. Dallas Christoson led off the frame with a grounder to short which Albenis Machado overthrew to first, that allowed Christoson to advance to second. Christoson would steal second two pitches later. Terrence Green then stroked a double to the left center field gap, which plated Christoson for the 5-5 tie. Dustin Cameron would later induce Marc Mirizzi into a 6-4-3 double play which ended the inning.
The teams played scoreless into the bottom of the tenth. With one out Juan Camacho smacked a single to left off of Aaron Marsden. Walter Olmstead then ripped a single into the left center field gap which moved Camacho to third base. Matt Kent became the hero with a ground ball RBI single through the right side, as El Paso took the game 6-5.
Dustin Cameron (2-0) earns the victory as he tossed three scoreless innings allowing one unearned run off one hit with no walks and two strikeouts.
Aaron Marsden (4-5) takes the defeat, as he threw two and two thirds allowing one unearned run off of two hits with a walk and one strikeout.
Josh Neitz gets no decision, as he threw six innings allowing two earned runs off of nine hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Kory Drew went 3-5 with 3 RBI's. Matt Kent was 2-5 with an RBI. The Diablos will take on Fort Worth in the second game of the series on Friday night at 7:05 PM. Robbie Wachman will match up against Joel Kirsten for the Cats. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
