Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports scored four runs in the first inning and went on to defeat St. Paul 6-3 Thursday at Fair Grounds Field.
The Sports sent nine batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring four runs on four hits, including three doubles. Mal Winters making only his third start of the year, pitched six innings to pick up the victory.
Brandon Hudson retired all six batters he faced in the eighth and ninth inning to record his first save of the season. J.P. Schmidt led the Sports with three hits, including a double and scored two runs. The Sports and St. Paul will meet again Friday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05 with the broadcast on AM 1130, KWKH.
