The Sports scored four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run double by C Tommy Bryant that plated 1B Justin Humphries and RF Chad Gambill. St. Paul would make a comeback attempt in the middle innings, scoring two runs in the fourth and another run in the fifth to come within one of the Sports at 4-3. But Shreveport added runs in the sixth and eighth innings to take a comfortable three-run lead. Sports reliever Brandon Hudson picked up a two-inning save with a perfect performance in which he struck out two Saints batters. Offensively, the Sports were led by LF J.P. Schmidt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Pensacola 6, Coastal Bend 1

After two innings of scoreless baseball, the Pelicans took a commanding lead thanks to a four-run third inning, highlighted by a two-run single by 1B Marcos Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 2-for-4 on the night with two RBI. Starting Pelicans pitcher Colin Young protected the lead successfully over five innings, allowing one run on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts before the bullpen took over. Three different Pensacola relievers pitched at least one inning, allowing no runs on three combined hits. The Aviators now sit at an even .500 at 5-5 in the second half.

Lincoln 12, Sioux Falls 5

All nine Lincoln batters that stepped to the plate Thursday picked up hits, with seven getting two hits on the night. Before the Saltdogs got a chance to bat, Sioux Falls took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a LF Ben Van Iderstine run-scoring single. But the Saltdogs answered quickly, picking up three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to take a lead they would never lose. SS Tony Garcia scored the Saltdogs' first run on a sacrifice fly by RF Bryan Warner. Garcia went 2-for-4 on the night with two runs and an RBI. For the Canaries, DH Jake Smith went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Starting Lincoln pitcher Dan Reichert pitched eight innings and allowed three hits on nine runs with no walks and an impressive 10 strikeouts.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning, the Explorers fell behind 2-1 in the sixth inning when LF Andy Wilson hit his second home run of the season. The homer was Wilson's only hit of the night. But two innings later, the Explorers erupted for seven runs, highlighted by a two-run double by LF Jorge Moreno, to take an 8-2 lead. Moreno went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Explorers reliever Cameron Cheek, who entered in the sixth inning, pitched 2.2 innings and allowed no runs on two hits with no walks and a strikeout to pick up his second win of the season.

El Paso 6, Fort Worth 5 (10 innings)

With the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the tenth, Diablos C Matt Kent singled through the left side to score 1B Juan Camacho and give El Paso its first walk-off hit of the season. The Cats took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning, but a three-run Diablos seventh gave El Paso a 5-4 lead, its first of the game. The Cats tied the game in the eighth inning to eventually force extra innings before Kent ended Fort Worth's night for good. El Paso reliever Dustin Cameron pitched the final three innings and allowed one unearned run on one hit with no walks and two strikeouts to remain undefeated on the year at 2-0. With the win, El Paso pulled within half a game of Fort Worth in the South Division standings at 6-4.
