LET'S PLAY TWO...AGAIN!: Due to a rainout on Friday, the Tampa Tarpons and Lakeland Flying Tigers will square off in a doubleheader for the second time this week. Tonight, each game will be played to seven innings in regulation, with Game Two to start approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of Game One. So far this season, Tampa has split both of two twin bills.

MLB REHAB ALERT: Today, the New York Yankees announced that RHP Luis Severino is scheduled to pitch for the Tampa Tarpons on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. vs. the Lakeland Flying Tigers at GMS Field. Severino, 27, has not pitched in a game since having "Tommy John" Surgery prior to the 2020 season. The two-time AL All-Star originally pitched for Tampa in 2014, going 1-1 with a 1.31 ERA in four starts for the then High-A Tampa Yankees. Severino also made one rehab appearance with Tampa in 2016, logging a scoreless 3.0IP (2H, 0BB, 2K) on 5/29 at Brevard County.

LAST TIME OUT: After rain and lightning caused Wednesday's game to be suspended in the sixth, the Tampa Tarpons and the Lakeland Flying Tigers split a doubleheader on Thursday night at GMS Field. Lakeland rallied late to take the continuation game, 7-6, before Tampa scored early and often en route to a 16-2 victory in the nightcap.

Game One: RHP Yoendrys Gomez made his season debut and allowed 2ER over 2.2IP (1H, 1BB, 1K, 36P/22S)...RHP Sean Boyle followed with 3.1IP (3H, 2R/1ER, 1BB, 5K, WP)...Jesus Bastidas (2-for-4, HR, 4RBI, R) cut the deficit with a 3-run HR in the 5th, and Anthony Volpe (2-for-4, HR, RBI, R) tied the game with a leadoff HR in the 6th before play was suspended on Wednesday...In the 7th, Chad Bell (1-for-4, 2B, R) and Pat DeMarco (1-for-4, 2B, R) hit back-to-back doubles, and Bastidas followed with an RBI single, putting Tampa ahead, 6-4...Lakeland rallied for three runs in the 8th against RHP Trevor Holloway (L, 5-1)(2.0IP, 3H, 3R/1ER, 1BB)...RHP Wellington Diaz logged a scoreless 1.0IP (1K) in the 9th...Andres Chaparro (2-for-4, R) also had a multi-hit game.

Game Two: LHP Ryan Anderson started and tossed a nearly perfect 3.0IP (0H, 0R, 1BB, 4K, 40P/24S)...The Tarpons struck early with a sacrifice fly by Andres Chaparro (0-for-1, Sac-F, 2BB, RBI, 2R) in the 1st and a 2-out, 2-run double by Anthony Volpe (3-for-5, 2B, 2HR, BB, 6RBI, 2R, 2SB) in the 2nd...Tampa batted around in a nine-run 3rd (six walks/three hits), including a 2-run single by Josh Smith (2-for-3, 2BB, HBP, 2RBI, 3R, SB), a 3-run HR by Volpe and a grand slam HR by Elijah Dunham (2-for-4, 2HR, BB, 5RBI, 3R)...RHP Nelvin Correa (W, 1-0) held the Flying Tigers to 1ER over 2.0IP (3H, 0BB, 3K)...Pat DeMarco (2-for-3, HR, 2B, 2BB, RBI, 3R) and Volpe each added solo HRs in the 4th, and Dunham lined another long ball in the 5th...LHP Clay Aguilar allowed 1ER in 1.2IP (1H, 1BB, 1K)...Juan De Leon (0-for-4, Sac-F, RBI) tacked on a sacrifice fly in the 8th...RHP Kevin Milam (2.1IP, 1K) closed the game by retiring seven-straight batters.

DOUBLE DINGERS: Both Anthony Volpe and Elijah Dunham logged their first-career multi-HR games during Game Two of Thursday's doubleheader. Along with Trevor Hauver (5/4) and Pat DeMarco (5/5), four Tarpons have now accomplished the feat.

GOING STREAKING: Chad Bell extended his on-base streak in the continuation game on Thursday, going 1-for-4 with a double. Bell has reached base in all 22 games in which he's played this season and is currently on an eight-game hitting streak - tied for the longest active hitting streak in the Southeast League - batting .414 (12-for-29) in that span.

VS. LAKELAND: Tonight, the Tarpons will continue a six-game series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers. Tampa currently leads the season-series, 6-3. The teams are scheduled to square off a total of 24 times throughout the season.

LEAGUE LEADERS: The Tarpons enter today leading the Southeast League in several categories, including runs (236), hits (250), RBI (218), doubles (62), home runs (38), AVG (.265), OBP (.388) and SLG (.467). The Tarpons have six players ranked among the top-10 RBI leaders in the league, including: Anthony Volpe (1st, 26RBI) Elijah Dunham (2nd, 24RBI), Andres Chaparro (T-3rd, 23RBI), Pat DeMarco (T-3rd, 23RBI), Trevor Hauver (T-5th, 22RBI) and Austin Wells (T-5th, 22RBI)

200 CLUB: After scoring a baker's dozen on Sunday, the Tarpons became the first team in Minor League Baseball to score 200 runs in 2021. Tampa enters today with an MiLB-best 236 runs scored (8.74/G), which is 40 more than next on the list: Low-A Delmarva (196 runs). No other team in the Southeast League has scored more than 171 runs (Bradenton). Anthony Volpe (26R) and Elijah Dunham (26R) are currently tied for the league-lead in runs scored, with Andres Chaparro (23R), Pat DeMarco (23R) and Trevor Hauver (23R) tied for 4th, and Austin Wells (21R) ranking 8th.
