Bradenton Marauders News Release

DUNEDIN, Fla. - The Marauders were unable to tame Dunedin bats on Friday night and saw their nine-game winning streak end in a 12-2 loss to the Blue Jays at TD Ballpark.

The Marauders (18-10) fell just short of establishing a new franchise record for consecutive wins, but matched the club record of nine straight wins, set in 2011. With their victory, the Blue Jays (9-19) ended a four-game losing streak.

Blue Jays starter Sem Robberse tossed four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and recording a career-high seven strikeouts.

Dunedin got a first-inning RBI-single from Zach Britton for a 1-0 lead, but after the Blue Jays loaded the bases with one out, Marauders starter Domingo Gonzalez (0-3) struck out the next two batters to escape the jam, then went on to strike out the side in the second.

Mack Mueller hit a two-run single in the third to extend the Blue Jays' lead to 3-0, but Gonzalez, finished after three innings, still matched his season-high with seven strikeouts.

Mueller added an RBI-double in the fifth off Marauders reliever Ryan Troutman for a 4-0 Blue Jays lead, but Bradenton soon struck back. Eli Wilson blooped an RBI-single to left-center in the sixth inning, and Jasiah Dixon walked and scored on a dropped catch error, bringing the Marauders within two runs, 4-2.

But Dunedin played add-on, as P.K. Morris hit a solo homer off Wandi Montout in the seventh inning, and the Blue Jays rallied for seven runs in the eighth. The frame saw the Jays load the bases with one out against Montout, who yielded to Oliver Mateo. The latter allowed an RBI-single to Orelvis Martinez, then walked three straight batters to force home three runs. After a strikeout, Mateo hit Ryan Sloniger and Jhon Solarte with pitches, growing the Blue Jays' lead to 11-2. Enmanuel Mejia then entered and threw a wild pitch, scoring one more run before an inning-ending strikeout.

Alejandro Melean (2-1) earned the win in relief, holding the Marauders to two runs (one earned) over four innings before yielding in the ninth inning to Gabriel Ponce, who allowed only a two-out walk to Endy Rodriguez before ending the game.

The series continues Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at TD Ballpark. RHP Jared Jones (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will pitch for the Marauders against Blue Jays RHP Lazaro Estrada (0-0, 2.19 ERA).
