Bradenton Marauders News Release

DUNEDIN, Fla. - The Marauders broke a 1-1 tie in spectacular fashion, riding a nine-run seventh inning to an 11-1 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays on Saturday night at TD Ballpark.

With the score tied, 1-1, the Marauders (19-10) opened the seventh inning by drawing three straight walks from Blue Jays right-hander Eli Caballero (0-1). Jasiah Dixon then drew a fourth straight walk, forcing in the go-ahead run and prompting a pitching change. Adrian Hernandez entered and struck out Sergio Campana, but Endy Rodriguez delivered a two-run single and Hudson Head plated another run with a single of his own for a 5-1 Marauders lead. A throwing error by first baseman P.K. Morris plated two more runs, Alexander Mojica scored an additional run on a play at the plate that saw catcher Ryan Sloniger drop the throw, and a Norkis Marcos sacrifice fly capped the nine-run frame for the Marauders, matching the team's season-high for runs in a single inning.

Left-hander Brayan Roman (3-1) earned the win in relief with three scoreless innings, working to strand a total of four baserunners, and righty Sergio Umana pitched a perfect ninth inning in his Marauders debut.

Jared Jones had started on the mound for Bradenton, working out of trouble to hold Dunedin (9-20) scoreless over his first three innings. After Jase Bowen hit a solo homer to left field in the fourth for the game's first run, Jones worked into the bottom of the fourth but left with two outs and runners on first and second. Cameron Junker entered in relief, allowing a game-tying RBI-single to Sloniger, but stranding two men in scoring position to end the inning.

The four Marauders pitchers allowed just six scattered singles to the Blue Jays, who went just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Eight of the nine players in the Bradenton starting lineup reached base safely at least once, including Campana and Head, who extended their on-base streaks to 10 and 17 games, respectively.

The resulting victory gave the Marauders their second straight series win, and their tenth win in 11 games.

The series concludes Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at TD Ballpark. RHP Adrian Florencio (1-1, 0.56 ERA) will start for the Marauders against Blue Jays LHP Naswell Paulino (0-1, 5.75 ERA).
