
Devils Weekend Ends With Loss

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Albany Devils bid for a five-out-of-six point weekend was spoiled Sunday with a 7-3 loss against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Webster Bank Arena.
After a 3-2 shootout setback Friday against Hersey at Atlantic City, Albany registered a 4-1 win Saturday against Adirondack at Times Union Center. Sunday's defeat moves the well-traveled Devils to 26-17-3-5 overall. Bridgeport improves to 22-24-1-4.
Veteran goaltender Johan Hedberg, who was signed to a professional tryout contract Thursday, made his anticipated debut in a relief appearance. He made 11 saves on 13 shots in 37:41 of action. In his fifth-straight game and third of the weekend, starter Scott Wedgewood made six saves in 22:19.
Playing in his first contest since Jan. 26, defenseman Raman Hrabarenka registered a pair of goals. Joe Whitney also scored, increasing his team-leading goal total to 19.
Anders Nilsson made 33 saves on 36 shots for the Sound Tigers, which has eight wins in their last nine outings. Their two losses during that span came against the Devils.
Bridgeport jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the first. Matthew Pistilli, Aaron Ness and Ryan Strome each scored. Hrabarenka netted his fourth of the season at 16:12 to make it a 3-1 game.
In the second, Bridgeport's Johan Sundstrom and Andrew Clark scored within 16 seconds of each other during the first three minutes to chase Wedgewood.
Whitney followed with a tally at 6:55.
Anders Lee and Scooter Vaughn added to the Sound Tigers advantage at 4:40 and 7:22 (shorthanded) of the third. Hrabarenka's second of the game came at 7:36 with the man advantage.
