LOWELL, Mass. - Goaltender Brad Thiessen made 24 saves for his second shutout of the season and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins won their fifth straight in a 1-0 shutout of the Lowell Devils on Saturday at the Tsongas Center.

A night after blanking the Manchester Monarchs, 5-0, it was the Devils that were unable to find the back of the net despite eight power play opportunities in the match.

A scoreless tie held until the early minutes of the third period on the Penguins' third man-advantage of the game. Nick Johnson found Luca Caputi from behind the net for a quick snapshot through the legs of Mike McKenna at 5:49 of the frame.

Despite three power play chances through the remainder of regulation, Lowell would not be able to solve Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's rookie netminder.

McKenna was the tough-luck loser with 20 saves on 21 shots. With the victory, the Penguins are 6-0-0-0 versus the Devils in the all-time series.

The Lowell Devils return to the ice on Saturday, Feb. 26 as they travel to face the Manchester Monarchs at 7:30PM. Go online to AHLlive.com to listen or watch all of the live Devils action. For tickets, call (978) 458-PUCK or go to www.lowelldevilshockey.com.
