MIDLAND, TX - Hooks right-hander Chris Devenski and shortstop Carlos Correa have been tabbed Texas League Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. The announcement was made Monday by league president Tom Kayser.

Devenski blanked Frisco over 6 1/3 hitless innings Saturday in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Dr Pepper Ballpark. He limited the Riders to three walks and struck out eight as Corpus Christi rolled to a 16-1 triumph.

Acquired by Houston in the Brett Myers trade with the White Sox in July 2012, Devenski has not allowed a run over three appearances (two starts) to open the season, winning both of his decisions. The California native owns 14 strikeouts against four walks in 15 1/3 innings, holding the circuit to a .113 batting average.

Correa, who has homered in back-to-back games, is batting .375 with 10 doubles, 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and a 1.147 OPS in 15 contests. Houston's top prospect is tied for third in the Texas League in home runs and ranks second in RBIs. Correa leads the pack in doubles, slugging percentage (.719), extra-base hits (14), runs scored (16) and total bases (46).

This past week, Correa went 10-for-23 (.435) with eight runs, two doubles, three homers and seven RBIs in five contests.
