
Deshaun Thomas' Big Third Quarter Helps Austin Beats Grand Rapids, 112-95

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 3, 2016) - Deshaun Thomas was exhausted as he returned to the bench with 3 minutes to go in the third quarter. The Austin Spurs forward scored 15 point of his game-high 22 points the quarter.
Thomas helped Austin cruise to a 112-95 win over the Grand Rapids Drive on Wednesday night in front of 2,136 fans at the DeltaPlex Arena. It is the third-straight win for the Spurs.
Austin, the affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs, improves to 19-9 and leads the Southwestern Division by three games. Grand Rapids, whose parent team is the Detroit Pistons, falls to 12-13.
Thomas, a 6-foot-7 forward out of Ohio State, was 10-of-16 from the field, including a 3-pointer.
Six Spurs players scored in double figures, including Orlando Johnson (21), Nick Johnson (20), Cady Lalanne (12) and Youssou Ndoye, who had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Johnson was 3-for-3 from long range for a season high in points.
Devin Ebanks led Grand Rapids with 20 points. The 6-foot-9 forward out of West Virginia, was 9-of-17 from the field. He is ninth in the D-League in scoring at 20.4 points per game.
Kelsey Barlow finished with 16 points for Grand Rapids. He was followed by Dahntay Jones (15), Henry Sims (14) and Gary Talton (12).
Keifer Sykes and Nick Johnson each had 10 points at halftime as the Spurs led 54-47.
Sims had a tip dunk off a missed 3-pointer to start the second half for Grand Rapids, but it was all the Spurs after that, as they outscored the Drive 34-26 in the quarter.
Julian Washburn banked in a 3-pointer to give the Spurs a 48-37 lead in the second quarter. Barlow then hit back-to-back threes to get Grand Rapids back in it at 48-43.
Austin's next game is at the Texas Legends on Saturday for an 8 p.m. EST start. Grand Rapids travels to Canton on Friday for a 7 p.m. start.
