Tri-City Storm News Release
DES MOINES, IA - Using a three goal effort in the third period, the Des Moines Buccaneers defeated the Tri-City Storm for the first time this season by a score of 4-1.
The only Storm goal was scored on the power play in the second period by Joel L'Esperance. The forward who was formerly property of the Buccaneers, had his tenth of the season assisted by forwards Michael Vecchione and Trevor Moore.
Des Moines took the initial lead late in the first period on a goal by Ryan Galt at 18:39.
Tri-City tied the game with L'Esperance's goal in the latter half of the second, making it a 1-1 game heading into the third period.
But the Buccaneers scored two goals in the first 2:02 of the third period and got a late tally from Seth Adams to seal their 4-1 victory.
Tanner Creel played well in net for the Storm, making 29 saves and keeping Tri-City within striking distance until late in the game.
The Storm did not allow a power play goal to Des Moines in six Buccaneer man-advantage opportunities.
The Storm are back in action on Friday night in Sioux City at 7:05 p.m. before returning home to face the Buccaneers once more at the Viaero Event Center on Apr. 6, also at 7:05.
