Indiana loses 4-2
March 30, 2013 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Indiana Ice News Release
The Dubuque Fighting Saints controlled a majority of the momentum when hosting the Indiana Ice from the Mystique Community Ice Arena.
Three minutes and 17 seconds almost changed the course of the entire game as Indy was able to cut a 3-0 deficit to one goal with two quick-fire lamplighters late in the third period.
Unfortunately for the Ice, the momentum shift was short lived as a goal by the Saints' John Stevens finalized the score at 4-2 to complete Dubuque's four game-sweep of the Indy squad.
Both goals came from the blue line as Matt Roy logged his first USHL goal while Josh Jacobs buried his second marker of the season. Anderson Snair recorded 26 saves on 30 shots on net.
A tripping call on Dubuque's Michael Downing proved to end the shutout attempt. With just under six minutes remaining in the third period, Roy lased the team's 16th shot of the contest past Saints' goaltender Christian Frey to put Indy on the board.
Three shots by the Fighting Saints ensued, but Indy's final shot of the contest was provided by freshman defenseman Jacobs when the Michigan State commit lasered a puck from Alex Talcott and Bo Pieper.
As quickly as the Ice gained momentum, Dubuque crushed the comeback attempt with Stevens' goal just 36 seconds after Jacobs' goal to bring Indy within a single goal.
While being limited to only ten shots in the first two periods of the contest, the same defense that allowed seven unanswered goals in the first 40 minutes of Friday's contest allowed only two markers in the same span against one of the league's top offenses.
The Indiana Ice wrap up the 2012-2013 campaign with a four-game homestand from Bankers Life Fieldhouse beginning on April 6 as the Ice host Team USA at 7:05 pm.
