
Derrick Loop Added to Sea Dogs Roster

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have added left-handed pitcher Derrick Loop to the Portland Sea Dogs roster from Single-A Salem. Loop will wear uniform number 18. Right-handed pitcher Jarod Plummer was placed on the disabled list.
The 25 year-old Loop has made 45 appearances (one start) for Single-A Salem in 2009 posting a 3-3 record with 16 saves and a 1.66 ERA (12 ER/ 65.0 IP). Loop was selected to the 2009 Carolina League All-Star Game. He has converted 16 of 18 save opportunities for Salem and has recorded 77 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched. His 16 saves ranks second amongst Red Sox farm hands and fourth in the Carolina League. In 2008, he combined to go 9-0, including 6-0 with Single-A Lancaster, after the Red Sox purchased his contract from Chico Outlaws of the Golden Baseball League in June 2008.
Plummer has notched an 8-7 record with a 4.01 ERA (50 ER/ 112.1 IP) in 23 starts for the Sea Dogs this season. The 25 year-old was signed by the Red Sox as a minor league free agent on November 25, 2008.
The Portland Sea Dogs conclude four game series with the Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) Monday night at 7:00 PM at Hadlock Field. The Sea Dogs will return to Hadlock Field for the final regular season homestand September 1st through September 7th. Tickets for all remaining 2009 Portland Sea Dogs' home games are available.
