DES MOINES, Iowa, January 22, 2009- Patrick Sanders' team record high 43 points helped lead the Iowa Energy defeat the Dakota Wizards 142 to 140 in double overtime on Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena. The Energy's record now stands at 12-6.

With the score tied at 116 in the 4th quarter, Dakota's Renaldo Major drilled a three pointer with 1.7 seconds left to give the Wizards an apparent victory. The Energy immediately called a time out and set up a play for Sanders who buried a three pointer from the corner at the buzzer to send the game into an extra session.

Five additional minutes weren't enough for the two teams, as they each scored 15 points in the first overtime. After trading baskets for most of the second overtime, Cartier Martin sunk two free throws with a 1:02 left. Neither team could score any points the remainder of the game and the Energy ran out the clock to a 142-140 victory.

Othyus Jeffers (24 points, 14 rebounds) and Curtin Stinson (22 points, 11 rebounds) both had double-doubles for the Energy. Also leading the Energy offense were Brian Evans with 22 points and Cartier Martin with 28.

Will Frisby led the Dakota Wizards with 29 points and 17 rebounds.

This weekend the Energy will travel to Erie for a pair of game in Erie, Pennsylvania. The Energy will take on the BayHawks Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. All Energy games can be viewed for free at www.nba.com/dleague on NBA Futurecast.
