Denis Hamel back with Amerks

(Rochester, NY)... Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today that the team has reassigned right wing Denis Hamel to the Rochester Americans.

Hamel played two games with Buffalo before his reassignment today to the Amerks. The right winger has also played in four games with the Amerks and has one goal and eight penalty minutes.

The 25 year-old native of Lachute, Quebec, played in 105 games with Buffalo during the last three seasons, scoring 11 goals and adding nine assists for 20 points. Hamel has played three seasons in Rochester (1997-98, 1998-99 & 1999-2000), scoring 60 goals, 56 assists and 116 points along with 304 penalty minutes in 224 games with the Amerks.

Hamel was assigned to Rochester on October 4th and returned to the Sabres on October 18th. He is expected to play Friday night as the Amerks host the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.
