Dempsey Called into U.S. National Team

RENTON, Wash. - Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Clint Dempsey has been called into the U.S. National Team for the March 5 friendly against Ukraine in Larnaca, Cyprus. Kickoff at Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium is set for 11 a.m. PT and will be televised nationally on ESPN2, WatchESPN and UniMas.

Dempsey, 30, has 101 caps with the USMNT (T-10th) and ranks second all-time with 36 goals. He scored a career-high six goals with two assists in 10 appearances in 2013, including a goal against Costa Rica and assist against Mexico in his last two games.

Dempsey will return to Seattle prior to the Sounders FC season opener against Sporting Kansas City on March 8.
