Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014) - Chivas USA announced Thursday that the club has waived second-year midfielder Carlo Chueca. The 20-year-old Peru native joined the Red-and-White in August of last season and appeared in five games, including one start, while recording an assist in his debut season in Major League Soccer.

Born in Lima, Chueca joined Chivas USA's Youth Develop Academy at age 12 after moving to the U.S. with his family. In 2009, he ventured to Belgium to join prominent club R.S.C. Anderlecht, where the then 16-year-old attacking midfielder played with the Belgium side's Reserves. Chueca then moved on to Belgium's R.A.E.C. Mons for two seasons, where he also made appearances with the Reserves before returning to the U.S. to sign with the Red-and-White.

Chivas USA are currently in their second week of competition in the Desert Diamond Cup in Tucson, Ariz. as part of their second leg of preseason camp under new Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera. The Rojiblancos will return to Carson, Calif. on Sunday for the final stages of camp ahead of the March 9 season opener, when they host the Chicago Fire at the StubHub Center. The match, a nationally televised game on UniMas, is set to kick off at noon (PT).
