Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
CLEARWATER, FL. - Dunedin wanted to get back in the win column against the Flying Tigers after two losses on Tuesday.
After scoring just four runs in two games yesterday, the Blue Jays came alive on Wednesday beginning in the 2nd inning. Demi Orimoloye (3-3, 2B, RBI) got things started with a double to start the hit parade. Chavez Young then doubled him home with a ball that drifted in the right-center field gap. Kevin Vicuna tripled home Chavez Young, and Samad Taylor kept the line moving dropping a double over the diving left fielder. Cal Stevenson finished the scoring with a single to center field, and the Blue Jays were out to an early 4-0 lead.
Maximo Castillo gave a strong outing especially in the first three innings. He gave up only two hits through the three opening innings, and he worked out of trouble in the fourth without too much damage. A passed ball got runners into scoring position, and Reece Hampton lined a ball into left field to drive in Nick Ames and John Valente.
Demi Orimoloye wrapped up the scoring in the game with a single passed the shortstop to plate Kevin Vicuna. Cullen Large came in right behind to try to make it 6-2, but he was thrown out at home in a close play at the plate. Maverik Buffo made his first appearance of the year in the top of the 6th and the first batter he faced grounds into a double play, and the inning ended with a fly ball to Orimoloye in right. The rain brought a halt to the contest with no outs in the bottom of the 6th. The tarp was put on and the game eventually was called to give Dunedin the victory.
The season series finishes tomorrow with a 6:30 PM where the Blue Jays are going for their 60th win of the season.
