
Delgado, Johnson, and Rhodes Compete at 2014 All-Star Game

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Casey Delgado struck out two of the three hitters he faced in his single inning of work to lead the three Traverse City Beach Bums All-Stars at the 2014 Frontier League All-Star Game on Wednesday night at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, IL. The West Division defeated the East Division 2-0.
Delgado pitched the fourth inning for the East, striking out Windy City's Kyle Robinson and Joliet's Russell Moldenhauer before retiring River City's Saxon Butler on a groundout.
D.J. Johnson tossed 0.2 scoreless frames for the East in the last of the eighth inning, retiring Normal's Mike Schwartz, the eventual game MVP, and Schaumburg's Justin Vasquez on just three pitches.
Jake Rhodes caught the seventh and eighth frames for the East Division. He was behind the plate for four strikeouts as well as Johnson's appearance as Traverse City made up the battery for the East for the first two outs of the eighth inning. Rhodes was 0-for-1 in his lone at-bat.
The Beach Bums return to action on Friday to start a three-game set against the Gateway Grizzlies at Wuerfel Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and Miss Michigan will be in Traverse City. Fans will have the opportunity to meet her prior to the game in addition to her taking part in on-field activities throughout the night. Also, the Beach Bums will welcome in HGTV star Carter Oosterhouse and actress Amy Smart on Saturday night. Carter and Amy will be promoting their charity, Carter's Kids, with the Beach Bums wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game.
