Rockford Aviators News Release

LOVES PARK, IL - The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, seemed to be on cruise control through the first four innings until a five-run top of the fifth by the Schaumburg Boomers erased the Aviators lead and the defending champions went on to win 7-6.

Edgar Corcino had his sixth home run of the year with a three-run blast in the bottom of the first to put the Aviators up 3-0.

The Boomers responded in the top of the third when they loaded the bases, but were able to only push one run across on an RBI fielder's choice by Tyler Sciacca.

The Aviators pushed two more runs across in the bottom of he third inning on a two-RBI double by Kenny Bryant to take a 5-1 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, the Aviators scored another run on a RBI single by Mason Morioka to lead 6-1.

But it was the top of the fifth inning where things fell apart for the Aviators as the Boomers scored five runs on seven hits, highlighted by a two-run home run by Justin Vasquez, as the Aviators saw their five-run lead disappear.

The Boomers finished things off in the top of the seventh inning when Michael Valadez sent a RBI sacrifice fly that scored Joe De Pinto to give the Boomers the lead for the first time, 7-6.

The Aviators will be back in action tomorrow night against the Boomers at 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at 6:05 pm.

Tomorrow will also be the Schnucks 75th Anniversary Food Drive and all fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Rock River Valley Food Bank. Fans who donate will receive admission to the game for just $5.
