Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Former Snappers' pitchers Rob Delaney and Jeff Manship have been named by the 14 managers of the Midwest League to the 2007 Post Season All-Star Team. Delaney and Manship were promoted to the Fort Myers Miracle earlier in the season but they were both important contributors to the Snappers winning the Western Division First Half Championship.
Rob Delaney was the anchor of a strong Snappers' bullpen earlier this season going 1-0 with a 0.77 ERA in 36 appearances. Delaney was 28 for 29 in save opportunities and opponents batted a measly .152 against the right hander. Rob's 28 saves made him the new all-time saves leader in Snappers' history. Delaney broke the old record of 27 held by Chris Burt and Pat Fetty on July 7th against the Swing of the Quad Cities. In 46.2 innings pitched this season Delaney had only allowed four earned runs. Rob struck out 56 batters compared to just six walks.
Rob, a 2006 graduate of St. Johns University in New York, was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent on June 19, 2006. Born on September 8, 1984, Delaney resides in River Vale, NJ in the off-season.
Jeff Manship established himself as the staff ace early on and carried that over to his whole Beloit campaign. The right hander went 7-1 with a 1.51 ERA in 13 starts for the Snappers. In 77.2 innings pitched Manship struck out 77 batters while only walking nine. Opponents were batting just .185 against Jeff before his promotion to the Twins' High A Affiliate Miracle.
Manship was named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week from the dates April 30th through May 6th. During that stretch Jeff went 2-0 only allowing one run off five hits in 14 innings. Manship struck out 17 batters while only walking one in that week span.
This San Antonio native was the Twins' 14th round pick in the 2006 June draft. Manship attended the University of Notre Dame and led the team in strikeouts (111) and wins (9). He was named the 2006 Big East Conference Pitcher of the Year as well as being the only unanimous First Team All-Big East Conference selection. Jeff was also a Third Team Louisville Slugger All-American in '06.
